SSPG grows with add-on acquisitions

Svenska Specialistpsykiatrigruppen AB (SSPG) accelerates its growth further with four additional add-on acquisitions to become one of the leading focused full responsibility psychiatric care companies in Sweden

SSPG is a leading Swedish psychiatric care and behavior health company with a strong growth trajectory. The Company offers evidence- and knowledge-based investigation, treatment, care, rehabilitation, transition and aftercare services to children, youth and adults with psychiatric, psycho-social and neuropsychological disabilities. All services in SSPG are on a full-responsibility basis and services to adults are primarily institutional while services to children and youth are primarily non-institutional. The businesses within SSPG have a strong focus on quality of care in all parts of its operations with the needs and requirements of the individual patients as an essential theme.

Before the four acquisitions in March 2010, SSPG consisted of the subsidiaries Björkviksgruppen (psychiatric care services for adults in Southern Sweden), Neuropsyk (advanced investigation and psychiatric care services to adults in Northern Sweden), Eken-Utsluss (psychiatric care services to adults in Western Sweden) and Familjeforum (psycho-social behavior management services to children, youth and families, primarily in Southern Sweden).

To complement and strengthen SSPG’s service offering, the following four companies have now been acquired:

Partnergruppen is a leading psychiatric care company for adults in Southern and Western Sweden for adults and elderly, and will further strengthen SSPG’s current offering in these regions.

Sociala Tjänster is offering psycho-social behavior management services to children, youth and families primarily in the Stockholm region and is an important regional complement to SSPG’s other offering in this sector.

Prompting is focusing on institutional psychiatric care and boarding school services to children and youth, with operations in Dalarna, in the North of Sweden. Prompting is operating through the brand names “Cornelia” and “Felicia”. Prompting’s institutional care is an important complement to SSPG’s noninstitutional services for children and youth.

Fabriken is offering psycho-social behavior management services to children, youth and families in the Gothenburg-region and has for a long time collaborated with SSPG’s Familjeforum-business. Fabriken adds the Gothenburg region to our children and youth presence.

In total, SSPG has pro forma sales of approximately SEK 500 million and approximately 600 employees. The Company is headquartered in Bollnäs.

“We are very proud to tie leading and quality-focused psychiatric care businesses like Sociala Tjänster, Prompting, Partnergruppen and Fabriken to SSPG. They all strengthen and complement SSPG’s offering in a very logical way. We are now closer to the vision of being able to offer all types of psychiatric and psychosocial services to all age groups in all of Sweden.” says Ulrika Östlund, CEO of SSPG.

”We are enthusiastic about Sociala Tjänster, Prompting and Fabriken joining SSPG and strengthening our offering for children, youth, and families. There is a significant need in today’s society for more evidencebased and professional psychiatric and behavior management services for children and youth. It is also essential for our patients that they are provided treatment and therapy methods with focus on changing a patient’s whole life situation, and that is something we are passionate about.” says Per Schüller, Head of Division Children and Youth in SSPG.

”With greater combined resources, we are able to be a strong positive force within adult-psychiatry in Sweden. Together, Björkviksgruppen, Neuropsyk, Eken-Utsluss, and Partnergruppen have complementary knowledge and long experience of different psychiatric care and treatment services for adults. Three important foundations for our cooperation are our focus on qualitative care, our views on the importance of evidence-based care and treatments and the respect for facilitating different patients’ needs. In Sweden today, there is a need to bring psychiatric care back to the public agenda, and that is a role that we are enthusiastic to take.” says Carl Groth, Head of Division Adults in SSPG.

”We are pleased to become a part of SSPG’s offering to children, youth, and families and we look forward to, in addition to our services, also offer our customers other niche competences within SSPG. I have, throughout my professional career been active in social services, both public and private, and I know that the companies united through SSPG are best in class in their respective market segments. Together, we can offer an improved service and provide a platform for behavioral change, which is necessary for changing the life situation of the children, youth, and families we work with.” says Ulf Fredriksson, CEO of Sociala Tjänster, a part of Division Children and Youth in SSPG.

The acquisitions are conditioned upon customary regulatory approvals, and the terms and conditions of the transactions are not made public.
